2020 has been a wild year as-is, and this year’s Black Friday follows the trend — but in a good way. There are tons of 2020 Black Friday drone deals this year, on everything from virtual event passes to online classes to, yes, the drones themselves.
DJI is hosting a sale on its own online store, with some products on sale for nearly 50% off. The DJI 2020 Black Friday sale runs through November 30, 2020. With the DJI 2020 Black Friday sale, you’ll find discounts on note just drones, but other DJI products as well, such as accessories, or non-drone cameras like the Osmo.
Here are some of DJI’s best deals (or see them all on the DJI online store):
Besides the benefit of sale prices, there are a number of reasons to buy directly from DJI, including opportunity to participate in the DJI Select membership program, extra discounts toward future purchases in the form of DJI Credit and sometimes additional discounts for qualifying customers, such as if you’re a teacher or researcher.
If you’re in the market for a gift for a kid (or an adult who you think should get into drones!), Amazon can deliver. The retail giant is offering tons of Black Friday sales all week long on toy drones. While the sales seem to change day-by-day — and sometimes even by the hour — there are tons of drones for under $50.
A word of advice: if your budget is $50 or under, this is a great place to look. If you’re looking to spend more than about $250 on a drone, skip buying a product from an unestablished company, and go for a DJI drone (the DJI Mavic Mini and DJI Mini 2 are the company’s two cheapest drones).
Online drone training courses
Online courses have been especially popular this year as people look for self-improvement during increased time spent at home. For dronies who don’t have their drone pilot licenses yet, 2020 has been an increased opportunity to enroll in a Part 107 online course. The best news: Part 107 online courses are on sale this Black Friday. Already have your Part 107 license? Then level up your skillset further with increased skills in drone photography, videography, and roof inspections.
Drone Pilot Ground School Part 107 training: Between now and Nov. 30, prices for the Drone Pilot Ground School online test prep course drop by more than $100, from $299 down to $192. That’s $107 off — and more importantly, a hefty 36% discount.
Drone Launch Academy photo, video and roof inspection courses: Between now and Nov. 30, you’ll get 45% off Drone Launch Academy’s Ultimate Drone Pilot Bundle Pro, taking the $1,095 price tag down to just $499. While Drone Launch Academy is primarily known for their online Part 107 training courses, they also offer a number of other training programs to augment your drone skillsets (aka: teaching you how to charge more money for your work). The Drone Launch Academy’s Ultimate Drone Pilot Bundle Pro includes the following courses:
- Aerial Photo Pro (normally $199)
- Aerial Video A to Z (normally $397)
- Aerial Roof Inspection Pro (normally $499)
Drone Launch Academy Ultimate Drone Pilot Bundle: Pro Plus
If you want all that and a Part 107 drone pilot license course, you can get that on a huge Black Friday discount too. Between now and Nov. 30, you’ll get a 55% discount on the Drone Launch Academy Ultimate Drone Pilot Bundle: Pro Plus (normally $1,382, now offered at just $599). With that bundle, you’ll get:
AirVuz’s New York City Drone Film Festival passes
The NYC Drone Film Festival went entirely virtual event this year in what is the sixth-annual-edition of the popular aerial video competition. I served as a speaker in the masterclass portion of the event — and because of that, I’ve got discount NYCDFF tickets on Black Friday for Drone Girl readers.
In addition to incredible drone films, your ticket gets you access to more than 30 hours of masterclasses, including experts in cinematography, FPV racing and more from people like DJ Hesta Prynn, who shared how to choose music, which can make or break your drone video. Luisa Winters gave a fascinating talk for film nerds on Editing Theory. Alex Vanover shared the scoop on advanced drone racing tactics. And I gave a talk on “How to pitch your drone business to the press.”
To get a discounted ticket, simply use this link and enter promo code DRONEGIRL to save 50% off the usual NYCDFF ticket price.
That brings your price down from $120 to just $60. Grab your half-price NYC Drone Film Festival passes here.
